To quickly access health information from your website's browser, download It was Appendicitis … It began on Saturday. I was light headed, had a headache that wouldn’t go away, an all-over ache, figured I was coming down with the flu. On Sunday I told the boss I wasn’t feeling well but stuck it out anyway. On Monday I was a little worse. Woke up about every hour with cold sweats and couldn’t sleep. On Tuesday the feeling of “something isn’t right” was worse yet. I was waking up to urinate about every hour. I went to my family doctor. They ran tests including blood work and urinalysis. “Everything came back normal” I was told. Perhaps you have a virus the doctor said. So home to bed I went. Still felt bad on Wednesday but went to work anyway. The pain in my lower back went all the way across and hurt so bad I walked hunched over. I work nights. I went to bed on Thursday morning. I woke up at 1:00pm with cramps and pain in my upper middle stomach. I was thinking stomach flu. Then the vomiting began. I hadn’t eaten since Wednesday evening. The pain in the upper middle stomach became unbearable. By 4pm I was asking my husband to take me to the Emergency Room. It was busy and I sat in the E.R. for about 5 hours and cried. By the time the E.R. doc saw me, the pain was also in my lower right abdomen and hurt to even touch. The E.R. doc said “sounds like appendicitis, lets get a CT scan.” By 12:00am I was prepped and ready for a laparoscopic appendectomy. If I had only knew on Sunday what I found out on Thursday, I would have went in then! Worst pain I’ve ever felt! Ranks right up there with labor. Hope this helps someone else with the same symptoms get seen sooner. I’m just thankful that I didn’t wait. The surgery went great; I’m healing just fine. Lucky for me, even with past abdominal surgeries and being over-weight they were able to do it with the laparscope. Blessings, Michele Comments
