To quickly access health information from your website's browser, download Open Apendectomy I recently had an open appendectomy done. I was done on a Sunday. My family originally believed it was gastro (vomiting etc) but Saturday night I could not get a wink of sleep unless i slept on my right hand side. On Sunday, Mum made an appointment for me at my local GP where I live in Australia. Appendicitis was the general consensus after the initial consultation, so I made my way to the hospital to have my appendix out. I went in for surgery at about 3:00pm and finished at 5:10pm. My surgery took longer because my appendix was larger than the surgeons expected and they had to cut some of my stomach muscle to get to it. I came out of the anaesthetic OK and went to a ward to recover. The surgeons came up to see me the day after, on Monday, and said I should stay here for 2 to 3 days to recover & manage the pain some more. But the part that has really disgusted me about the health system is that not even 24 hours after my surgery at about 3:40pm, I (pretty much) was forcebly discharged. I’m not sure if this is a regular or natural occurance, but I have recovered quite well & am slowly getting back to the way I used to be. Comments
