To quickly access health information from your website's browser, download Unexpected I had been feeling a little down for about a week and aching just like I had the flu coming, I was also constitpated, but nothing major though I did visit the doctor and say how I was feeling. The doc said I had post viral fatigue following a recent throat infection and so I continued to carry on as usual. On Tues morning at 8am I was in work and fine by 9.15am I was in Accident and Emergency in agony. The pain at onset was like a sharp stabbing deep inside me in the central part of my abdomon when I tried to go to the loo. It was only as I was monitored at the hospital and the pain worsened over the next few hours that the pain increased further and to the right of my abs. I thought I may die it hurt so much, much more than any labour pain ever experienced by me! I was in theatre having emergency surgery at 4.30pm. Whilst my appendix had not ruptured they said that my pelvis/rectum etc was nasty and filled with pus and the appendix was pretty ugly. It has now been 10 days I am still in pain with my bowel, pelvis and waterworks having spasms and causing me problems. I am just so grateful for the fast acting colleagues I work with and the hospital staff. Hope my symptoms may help others, if I have learnt one thing it is to listen to your body. June 2009
