Needle biopsy of the breast

I had the above 10 days ago. They said they removed 2 cores. I still have one they were unable to get at. They froze the breast, had one incision and the needle was drawn across the entire breast with intermittent injections to freeze the area more. Twice, I felt great pain as the area was not yet numb. Afterwards, the entire breast was black and extremely sore. At 10 days after the biopsy, I still have pain with any touch or movement. Only good thing is it was not cancer but a fibrocystic change. I see the oncologist tomorrow for more details. The procedure took 2-1/2 hours on the table, was gruesome and painful. I considered it to be barbaric in this day in age. I was told not to move but when the needle went into an area not numbed, I jerked involuntarily. I was on the table 2-1/2 hours, my arm was in great discomfort as well. I will ask why they didn’t cut into the breast at different places to avert such lateral trauma. The incision I had was minimal and seems like it would have been better to have more than one incision. I will NOT go thru this again for the third cell. They will have to come up with a better procedure. Only good part is it apparently was not malignant.

When I had this done 13 years ago, on my other breast (which turned out to be cancer and I had a masctoctomy) they put me to sleep. No pain and no significant trauma to the breast. What happened with progress!
