To quickly access health information from your website's browser, download Colon Resection I am a 49 year old female. I had experienced worsening symptoms of narrowing bowel movements, abdonimal pain, and sometimes explosive diarrhea. I had several polyps removed previously so decided I better schedule another fun colonoscopy. Imagine my surprise when waking up to find that the Doctor had been unable to perform the procedure because of a blockage. I was then scheduled for a barium enema - more fun times!!!! This plus a series of other invasive tests led me to a colo-rectal surgeon He performed the surgery within a week and while it was not a pleasant memory, I am so glad it was done. I had lived with the pain for so long, it was nice getting used to the absence of it. The nasogastric tube was the part I disliked the most. I spent 7 days in the hospital and took off only 20 days from work. My doctor was great and the hospital was, well a hospital! No stay there is something to be desired. I was scared before the surgery, but the outcome was great. I had no post-op issues and recovered well. Comments
