To quickly access health information from your website's browser, download Polyp exploded! I ended up in Emergency and was admitted. They did the colonoscopy and verified that I needed immediate surgery. I drank the most horrific, huge glass of enema pre-op. Had the surgery and they removed the sigmoid, rectum and some of the colon (open surgery) and put in a temporary stoma (colostomy). I went back in for reattachment surgery in 6 months. Everything went as planned and I recovered easily. The thing I was not prepared for is what happens postoperatively after healing and things are supposed to be normal……the extremely smelly gas and poop !! The gas is uncontrollable and frequent and much more smelly than before surgery. Anyone have this experience? What have you done to control it? I feel house-bound. Comments
