To quickly access health information from your website's browser, download unexpected surgery Last Mon. I went to work as usual. I was feeling a bit of pain over my left side, just beneath my rib cage and slight nauesa. I left work to go to a quick clinic down the street because I was scheduled to leave for a trip to Mexico on Wed and did not want to be sick. The Dr took one look at me and sent me to the Hospital for tests. The hosital sent me to the ER, I was given a CT scan and some x rays. The next thing I knew, I was being scheduled for an immediate surgery. I turned out that I had abcess on my colon that was actually leaking. Surgery was at 5 pm on Mon. Tues am I was able to get up to use the bathroom, I took a short walk through the halls Tues pm. By Wed I was still uncomfortable but not in severe pain. I was released Fri am, doing ok, moving a little slow but went went shopping for a couple hours on Sat. Today is Sun. I am to call my Dr in the am for an appointment and I am going to go in to check on work tomorrow, wont do anything strenuous but feel good enough to be there for a couple hours. This whole thing was a complete shock to me. I am a 53 year old female, extremely active, always watch my diet, have never had any type of surgery before now.Apparently this was a life threatening condition and I am thankful the quick clinic physician was observant enough to catch it. I have not taken any pain meds since Wed. I beleive a positive attitude goes a long way toward recovery. Good luck to anyone needing this surgery, there are rough spots but keep a positive outlook.
