laproscopic resection

I am a 50 year old white female with a brief history of diverticulosis and diverticulitis About a year ago, with no warning, my bowel habits changed dramatically. Then I developed my first bout with diverticulitis By the time surgery was scheduled to remove the disease damaged portion of my colon, the condition advanced rapidly so that the bowel was being obstructed.

I had the resection two weeks ago. There has still not been a restoration of “normal” bowel function despite recommended low residue diet. I am dragging and uncomfortable. About two feet of my colon was removed. I spend every hour in the bathroom praying for productive bowel movements. The laproscopic sites are sore as is the point of resection. I have been given Flagyl and stopped all painkillers. Has anyone else had this experience? When does “normal” bowel movement occur in most resections? Your stories would be helpful.
