To quickly access health information from your website's browser, download A better life I’m 44 years of age. I have spent much of the last 14 years battling a progressive state of Diverticulosis. The discomfort kept on becoming more and more a monthly occurance and then weekly until, a diverticulitis absess burst on February 6th 2009. I don’t have to mention the excruciating pain that followed. I was check into the hospital for observation. Loads of test and CT scans and plenty of antibiotics. I didn’t want to have surgery. The CT scans showed a formation of scar tissue between the sigmoid colon and the appendix. Six days spent in the hospital hoping the the absess will decrease in size. I was feeling better because of the hospital meds and the antibiotics. So the doctors and the hospital released me with a Picc line in my upper left arm. The picc line was for daily antibiotic infusions. after about 2 weeks of infusions and another CT scan the absess had not decreased in size. I could not live on antibiotics and pain medications. So, I came to the conclusion if I want to resume a normal life again I must have the surgery. I came to this web site and found many related stories that set my mind at ease. I had a successful surgery. 12 inches of my sigmoid colon removed including my appendix and a baseball sized scar tissue removed. All perform together without any complications. I had surgery on Monday and went home on Saturday. The day after the surgery I was up walking around. Take it slowly but continue to walk around you will only get better when you walk. It has been 12 weeks since the surgery. I’m back to work and doing the things I enjoy. I have my life back without PAIN. Follow your doctors advice and listen to your body. You will know what you can and can’t do. Only with time will you feel better. It can be a life changer. A better life. June 2009
