To quickly access health information from your website's browser, download Resection Ahead Had been having stomaches and some pain on lower left side for a year and a half never thought much of it until one day returning from vaction unloaded rv went for some in in out burgers after half the burger went to kitchen once my foot hit the tile that was it, chills hit with a vengence never felt anything like it before. Within the hour fever and then pain in the belly set in being a guy I lasted the night and half the mourning being begged by my wife to go to the hospital finally just could not stand the pain anymore and gave in. Went to kaiser got ct scan and was diagnosed with diverticulitis given two sets of antibiotics and sent home. What about pain meds we thought after all that’s why I went !. Get this, within hours of being sent home I developed 10 times the pain I never felt pain so excruciating in my life. Went back to emergency crawling on the walls in pain and fever I think I passed out while they were giving morphine and fluids, when I woke up the bag of fluids was almost done. Again kaiser sent me home this time with 1000 mgs vikadine every 4 hours, one week at home still in pain even with the vikadine we called to get another prescription and told come in when your done with previous prescription decided what’s going on here. Still in pain and fever decided to go to the VA hospital instead of kaiser . Upon arrival within a hour got x-rays another ct scan and was immediately seen by a surgen I had an abcess deep in the abdominal cavity within two hours of arriving I was admitted and in a bed after being told surgery was ahead because of location was in a diffacult area a specialist arrived, I was sweeped away at moments notticed thru many cts the surgeon was able to reach the abcess to drain it and relieve most of the pain. But even with all the great work and quick thinking by the surgeons I was in the hospital 6 days. The VA surgeons nurses and hospital great but it was just too late my colon was just too damaged by not being treated rightaway/properly at the onset of this very painful disease it started April 28 2009 and is now august 2009 had a colonoscopy two weeks ago still had diverticulitis narrowing, edema, and alot of inflamation I had a feeling something wasent right cause I still had alot of discomfort like tenderness, sharp pains at times and the worse feeling has been a consistant stomachache like wrenching type of feeling. This is after being called back in for amacillian prescription and still was not working so now I’m scheduled sept 3 2009 for resection surgery lap then open if needed. I’ve read many stories good and bad and I probably can avoid it but the question is for how long do I really want to live with all the discomforts to only lead back to surgery at anytime or anyplace I may be. So I decided to move forward in life get the surgery try to put this behind me but at the sametime I’m not so worried but then at times I think of complications, the bag I’ve never had physical problems before I guess that’s where I’m at. Any thoughts or words may help me from thinking about this to much, it’s been 4 months and I’ve been on the Internet almost everyday maybe I’ve just been driving myself crazy? Thanks for listening sorry for the long story Comments
