54 year old man in excellent shape. Finally went for colonscopy after discovering I was anemic during a routine blood test. Needless to say, I had a polyp in my lower right quadrant that had to be removed. Surgery (Tues)went well removing 12 inches and lymph nodes without any pain afterward. Thursday received the great news that it was a precancerous polyp that did not spread. Proceded to vomit minutes after the celebration which prompted the doctor to order a suction sump tube nasogastrically to remove excess stomach juices (no digestion occuring two days after surgery). An unforgetable experience. Removed tube Friday after an uncomfortable night. Home Monday, nearly one week after surgery and only 3 solid meals in the hospital. Unbelievable loose stools for two days that I thought I would be using diapers for a long time. By Thursday, felt great enough to have Beer and Pizza. Everyone - do not delay in getting a colonscopy when scheduled or if you have any symptoms. 6 weeks later, feeling great!!
