To quickly access health information from your website's browser, download My Fistulotomy Surgery Not Bad!! Yesterday, I had my dreaded fistulotomy performed…and let me tell you - my experience was not bad at all (and I worried about it for a week and 1/2 beforehand, lost 5 lbs from not eating). I tried homeopathic Dr…but left unhealed and with a huge Visa bill. After reading many other bad experience posts (and my heart goes out to those who endured agony) - I was terrified on what to expect after the procedure. Back in 2002, I had a horrific experience with hemorrhoid removal surgery, fissure and sphincterotomy…severe pain and unable to deficate after surgery - didn’t heal for weeks and weeks. After yesterday’s procedure, I was given an RX of Tylenol 3…to take every three hours…then was also able to take 2 Advil liquigels. Today, I was pleasantly surprised to not need the Tylenol 3…just the Advil…and I was able to “go” today with NO PAIN!! Yay…lots of sitz baths…fiber, stool softeners…then a follow up appt in 10 days…I’ll keep you posted! Also - if it makes you feel any better - the nurse told me she had the Dr. give her fistulotomy to her without going under! Just numbing the region…her secret to a quick recovery is keep the area clean and dry. Comments
