Get some prunes, grapes and eat cereal. I had constipation following surgery that I thought was going to kill me! Passed 3 golf balls and tore all the surgery apart. I was actually feeling ok after 3 days until I had to pass the golf balls (ok, maybe large marbles) but it felt like a glowing-hot ball-bearing coming out. 5-7 stool softeners did nothing of any good for me. Prunes have worked well since to keep stools soft, but the spazams [spasms] (SP) pucker my butt now ALL THE TIME. Relaxing is best done in a sitz bath and I pass my stools there as well since its the only way to relax the muscles. Going into week 2, I still have bad bleeding (much because of the constipation I believe), uncontrollable muscles in the anus, and severe pain. Will it ever heal??? Comments
