To quickly access health information from your website's browser, download Newest Butt in Town I had my hemorrhoidectomy two days ago. I am a 37 y/o female, two kids, good shape. I have had hemmorhoids for over 15 years, with the last 5 getting really bad due to having kids. My husband had hemorrhoid surgery about 15 years ago, and has encouraged me to get the surgery, too. I had the procedure under sedation with local. I highly recommend this. Waking up from the anesthesia can be a big problem with surgery, so why do general if you don’t have to. Biggest problem occurred right out of surgery. One of the vessels popped a stitch or something and I was bleeding pretty bad. I had to go back into surgery and have it re-stiched. That was a bit scary and I lost about 1 unit of blood. This is apparently quite a bit, but not enough for transfusion (thank God!). They watched me in recovery all day and I went home that night. I immediately ate a bowl of fiber cereal and have been forcing myself to drink a lot of water. I took a sitz bath that evening (even though the doc said to wait, I felt I needed one) and it helped. I took Percoset for the first day and a half, but I am off it now using only Advil. I know narcotics can cause constipation, so really I only took them because my butt was sore. It was kind of like a toothache. The pain was not so bad, it was just CONSTANT. I had my first bm this morning (two days after surgery), and it was pretty easy because I’ve been eating a lot of fiber and drinking a ton of water, so my poop just kind of slipped out. Considering what I’ve read on this site, I was expecting something horrible, but so far so good. I’m going to keep eating a lot of fiber and metamucil and drinking water until I get fully back to normal. I am able to sit comfortably now in a chair, and feeling better every minute. I am supposed to see my doctor today. The greatest thing is that my butt has no lumps inside or out. I really did not realize how horribly my hemorrhoids were affecting my going to the bathroom until they’re gone. So far, I am pleased with the results and very HAPPY that I did it!!! Comments
