I have had the hemorrhoids since the birth of my son 27 years ago and they have been a nuisance but nothing like this time. When I went to my family doctor she sent me immediately to a surgeon He scheduled the surgery as soon as possible. The surgery went well. I awoke 2 1/2 hours after I was put under and left the hospital 2 hours after that. I took two different pain medicines during the first 3 days after surgery but had to stop because I was allergic to each of them. The reactions were worst than the pain so I stopped and just took otc pain medicine. I am actually getting along very well. I had my first BM 3 days after surgery and thanks to the miralax all came out easily. I have been relying on sitz bath 2 to 3 per day to help relieve discomfort as well as a gel the surgeon gave me. The drainage smell is the worst and the occasional sharp pains around the stitches as well as finding a comfortable position to sit or lie in but each of those have already gotten better in this short amount of time. I have had several other surgerys but this is definitely the worst. The doctor told me the hemorrhoids wouldn’t come back and I’ll be glad I did this at age 50 and got it over with. I believe he is right but for now I am pretty tired of feeling lousy and not really being able to move around good without pain. I do believe my discomfort was compounded by the two weeks of discomfort before the surgery though. I have a disabled adult son to take care of so I had to bring in help for him for the first four days. I’m just being very careful about any lifting or movement that hurts so I can heal as quickly as possible. Comments
