I wanted to post a more positive spin as the posts I read on here pre op had me totally freaked out. I was supposed to have day surgery but as dr nice told me afterwards, it was much worse than he realised so I had an overnight stay. They generally let you leave after you have a bm (bowel movement) . I actually didn’t no matter how many laxatives they gave me, I was discharged to go it alone at home. The first bm happened the same night. Apparently the laxatives had kicked in all at once. So as for pain it wasn’t so bad during but after it hurt like heck but nothing worse than when I had a really bad flare up of hemmorhoids. I should also say that it wasn’t as bad as I imagined it to be, I’ve kept resting and don’t feel overally sore (less than pre op). I’m still on anti biotics and laxatives, 3 salt baths a day. I think it’ll be a quick recovery although I don’t think I’ll be doing anything manual work for a while. I’ve had a look at the area and it looks 5 times better than it did a few days ago already. So if you have bad bouts of hemmorhoids I’d definitely recommend the surgery.if they are bad it hurts no worse than that, only it’ll be the last time hopefully you feel that pain again….good to know. Another note, my mum also had the op some yrs ago. She doesn’t get hemmorhoids like she used to, in her words ’sometimes if she’s constipated she can feel a little sore but doesn’t look back’, physically she doesn’t see them. I’m hoping after the swelling goes down I won’t either. its worth it to me and I’d put up with a lil sore if I don’t get enough fibre. hemmorhoids were ruining my confidence and activities, the pain was unbearable. Anyway I’ll update later when I’ve recovered properly. Comments
