Fundoplication

My son had his first fundoplication done when he was 16 months old. They were able to do it lapriscopically, but after a few years the surgery came undone. He recieved his second nissan when he was 6 years old. And now just two years later he is having problems again! I refuse putting him through another surgery. Poor kid, he has gone through enough. He is now having problems swallowing and again is having reflux. He goes back to see the GI specialist at the local Childrens Hospital this week. So far no medication has worked…

    The Nissen Fundo procedure uses a twist and suture which causes access to the esophagus to be closed off during a stomach muscle contraction. The stomach contraction tightens the twisted sutures and closes off access to the esophagus durring the contraction, however in between stomach contractions the access is open allowing food and liquid to come down and enter the stomach.
