About to have a 2nd Nissen

I had the first Nissen Fundoplication 6 years ago. In the first year I had trouble with bloating. And since having it done I have not burped (belched) which has been a problem. It has developed into difficulty swallowing which causes quite a bit of pain. I have to eat very slowly and chew carefully. I have also had trouble swallowing liquid. I did get the area stretched which involves a light anesthetic and having a small balloon like instrument inserted and being expanded in the area. It did not offer any relief.
I went back to see the surgeon this year with my complaints. After having the usual tests done they concluded that although the operation was a success to have stopped the reflux it had caused other problems which couldn’t be detected through the tests.
I am booked in the have the 2nd operation on October 17th 2007. It will involve having the original operation undone and then redone in a slightly different way.
I also regret having the operation as I feel I wasn’t educated about the lasting side affects. Hopefully the outcome of this operation will be better than the last operation.
It had better be worth it after going through the after effects for a second time.
