That might sound scary to some but this is what I experienced each time… I was given general anesthesia but I always wake up with the breathing tube still down my throat. It has always been frightening to me because it feels as if I am being choked. The first time it happened, I snatched the tube out (reflex) but afterwards I has an awful sore throat so obvious it was a bad idea. The recovery nurse told me that it happens sometimes but its rare.. Well I guess I am “rare” because I had two others surgeries and the same thing happened but I didn’t snatch the tube out, I let the nurse do it but it seemed as if I were choking and she seemed to have taken too long to do it. I was panicked and didn’t like it at all. How coukld this happen 3 times? They were different hospitals so there were no similarities there… I am having another surgery in a couple of weeks and I am more nervous about that happening than anything else. Had anyone else gone through this? Comments
